STRINGS #4 (garage doors)
silent, life-size scale video projection on building
this piece was commissioned by La Comunidad during Art Basel festivities in the Wynwood Art District in Miami, 2006.
taking the series to a larger scale, I filmed the actual garage door on the side of the building and projected it life-size video replica onto a stretch of solid, concrete wall a few feet from the actual door. the life-size projection showed the garage door opening and closing at random, hinting at what might be lying beyond the solid concrete wall.
the impromptu performance shown on the video on the left remains a mystery to this day. but I liked that the projection became a kind of street proscenium and drew a few performers.
